Turmeric powder and KP OLI

I had read one story about a professor of philosophy in Paris. One day, he pronounced in college that he was the wisest person in the world. His students challenged him to prove his proclamation. He was well prepared for this situation, so he took out his map of the world and asked which country was the best in the world. All students were French so obviously, their answer was “France”.

‘Which is the best city in France?” Still, he continued,

“Paris”, students replied in unison.

“Which college is best in Paris?”, again the Professor asked

“Our college”, students replied.

“And I’m the principal of this college. I'm the principal of the best college of the best city of the best country in the world. So, I'm the wisest person in the world”, Principal gave his conclusion.

Students knew, he was not right, but the professor used the psychology of all students cleverly.

Because the professor knew, everyone thinks, their country, language, culture as superior to others.

Every people think about their country, their culture, or other identities best because they want to prove themselves best. Dear prime minister,  I don’t know whether you intend to use pseudoscience or you are a victim of such dogma, it is better to realize, Nepal is a beautiful country, not the most beautiful country. We have a good climatic condition, but so do some other countries too. And turmeric powder is good for health but not a panacea.

Some android application which can teach you science better than your teacher

We are inside our home since two month and already  started feeling bored because of such a long break. Why not utilize this time, to explore something about our nature and science, which is   rarely discussed in classroom, but can broaden your knowledge about science. Here I am going to discuss two android applications which are really useful to understand some about astronomy.
Can you recognize mars or jupiter in sky? Or have you ever seen or noticed Ursa Major? If you want to explore night sky, Sky Map can be a good choice. If you have an android device with magnetic sensor, it will work perfectly for you. Just, point your device toward any direction and it will identify that direction and  recreate the view of that particular direction in the device and detect every heavenly object, in that particular direction. Even with naked eye,  some planets like venus, mars, jupiter and saturn can be observed if  sky is clear. It has search option, which can be used to find direction of any particular heavenly object. Also there is time travel option, which will give idea, about the view of sky during different times. For example, currently  jupiter and saturn can not be seen during evening but can be seen easily in morning. Sky map will tell everything about it, so watching sky will be more fun.

Also, there are some paid apps such as stellerium and other free apps also, but I prefer Sky map because of its small size and great accuracy.

Another good application is Gravity Simulator which is useful to know about trajectory of planets and other heavenly object in presence of some other objects such as sun. Also it will help to learn about speed during revolution around the sun and also helps to know about how planets revolve in elliptical obit. Also, some objects can be created to observe the effect of gravity of other massive objects and helps to know, why jupiter and saturn are boon to the life on earth. There are some other applications too, which are also useful as this application, and you will enjoy the simulation and understand gravity more clearly.

About similar application in ios, I will write in another blog post. Also there are some useful apps which helps to understand mathematics more clearly. I will write about them very soon.

Model of education system after COVID19 crisis

All schools in Nepal are closed, after government imposed lockdown, because of the Covid19 crisis. Many schools have already started online teaching, but hardly fifty percent students are being able to join online classes, because of many technical issues.  Even, those are taking part actively in online class are not satisfied, with the online course. In other hand, there is less certainty about resumption of the school, as schools are the most vulnerable place for such pandemic. So, there is high risk of losing an entire academic year, if the problem persists for long time.
If we had implemented all the plan and policies made by government, impact of such situation could have been minimized but we missed it very badly. But,we have to learn and prepare  for another worst case scenario. I have presented few ideas, about how we can remodel out entire education system, so that teaching learning activities run smoothly even in such pandemic.
Remodel the curriculum
Our curriculum is either outdated or too vague. In the era of modern technologies, language teacher are still teaching how too write letter to their father.Students of class eight are given task of writing analytical answer of some given topic, which is generally considered beyond their capabilities. In other hand, course is made too vague and impractical. Curriculum is never designed on the basis of the learning capabilities of students, rather it is being designed by the whim of some so called experts who are always ready to add everything they love  in school curriculum. Because of all these, school curriculum looks like a encyclopedia. And it is very difficult to teach encyclopedia, even during normal school hours, than how it will be possible to teach using virtual classrooms.
It is the right time to remodel curriculum, which should include only most necessary topics, with practical approach, so that it would be easier to run classes using virtual means also.
Practical should be more practical
Almost all subjects in school include some practical marks, but all students get full marks on  practical even if the theory marks is zero. No one bothers to  take practical exams, and even if there is practical exam, it is only for formality. If such practical learning was implemented effectively,  practical classes could have launched easily by using virtual methods also. As practical contains 25 percent of total curriculum, three month lock down could have been compensated by practical activities only. So, there could have been no hamper in teaching learning activities. So, concerned persons should think about conduction practical classes in real.
Teachers???
Teaching requires a well qualified as well as technologically adapted personals,  who are always ready to learn, but in Nepal, it is just opposite. Teacher who are teaching in government schools, are assured of their job despite of poor results, so they never want to get updated. Teacher of private schools, spend most of their time fighting with administrations, and never get time for creating innovative ideas. But, in upcoming days, teachers who can easily adapt to modern technologies and teaching methods will be required to face such crisis.
Technology
Even if we have everything, despite of technology, it is almost impossible to face such pandemic without proper utilization of technology. So government and concerned authorities must think about developing technologies, for the inside and outside of classroom.

Few misconceptions about Sanskrit

Sanskrit is one of the most ancient language, and the language of almost all sacred texts of Hinduism and Buddhism. Many other texts have been written in Sanskrit, so its importance can never  be neglected. To understand history and cultural evolution of Indian subcontinent, profound knowledge of Sanskrit is required. But, scholars of Sanskrit go beyond this. With the widespread dominance of scientific developments, they are trying to prove Sanskrit as the most scientific language. In this article, I will try to write about few misconceptions about Sanskrit.
Sanskrit is language of supercomputer
What is the language of computer? I don’t know, which device you are using, but I guess, many texts in your device setting are in English. Also you are reading this article in English. But the device you are using does not understand English. Computer uses special language of mathematics which is also known as binary numbers. Whatever instructions are given to the computer, first it converts to numbers, (you can see ASCII code in picture) and stores the data. Whenever the user tries to retrieve the code, again it translates the binary numbers to the texts we can understand using same ASCII symbols. The translation is not visible or observable by user, so they can conclude that the language of compute is English, but actually it is mathematics. So even if output language of computer becomes Sanskrit, computer will use Numbers as its language.
Sanskrit will be used for interstellar communication
One specialty of Sanskrit is , meaning of sentences does not get altered even if order of words is changed. In English, “Father feeds baby” or  “ Baby feeds father will give different meaning in English but in Sanskrit, alteration of words will not change the meaning of sentence. But some Sanskrit enthusiast claim that Sanskrit is the best language for long distance communication. Their claim is, on long distance communication, the words get altered and message will be corrupted, and Sanskrit can resolve this problem. But reality is, as I have already mentioned, entire information technology is based on numbers, so the alteration will be with mathematics, which can produce different alphabets, and can affect any language. To resolve this, computer engineers has developed a special system that send same data for at least ten times and if it analyzes the transmitted data. For example, if nine data stream contains 0 but one stream contains 1 than it will interpret the data as 0, which can easily resolve the data transmission issue.
Sanskrit is taught in German university because of its scientific importance
This is what  Harvard tells about its Sanskrit program. They run Sanskrit program as a part of south Asian studies

Yeah, first part  is so true. Sanskrit is taught in many universities across the globe. But, it is  being taught as a part of Indology or South Asian studies. According to Harvard university “Indeed to be a South Asian intellectual was to be a master of Sanskrit, not merely to be fluent in it but to understand the rigorous linguistic underpinnings of the language as well as to absorb the complex theories of aesthetics and hermeneutics that govern Sanskrit texts. “
Sanskrit as south Asian studies or Indian study

Another German university “ludwig-maximilians-universität münchen”  writes in its intoducory page “The field of Indian studies addresses the cultural and historical development of southern Asia from the beginnings of human history into the contemporary age. It adapts a primarily literary and linguistic approach, applying philological and historical methods to the cultural study of the written sources of southern Asia. Sanskrit, the traditional language of India, is taught in a regular two-semester introductory course. When necessary, students can also study the central Indian languages (Pāli, Ardhamāgadhī, Gāndhārī). The contemporary languages of India—Hindi, Urdu and Kannada—are part of the regular offerings, as well. Bengali, Tamil and Telugu are also taught when necessary. At the Institute in Munich there is a cooperation in research and teaching with Tibetology, with the Academy project Buddhist Manuscripts from Gandhāra as well as with the Doctoral Program in Buddhist Studies.”
So it is almost evident that, foreign universities are not teaching Sanskrit to understand science of Vedas or Upanisads. Their goal is to understand the root language of south Asia, which will help them to understand south Asia.
All university across Globe run Sanskrit program as a part of south Asian studies

Sanskrit is being studied by NASA
It is one of the most hilarious statement which I have ever heard. In Nepal or India, most of the laypersons know only one research institute, NASA. According to them, NASA predicts earthquake, make vaccines for COVID19 and study Sanskrit. But, NASA is space agency, which studies about space, and some earth related issues which can be done from outer space only. And similar to  NASA  there is Indian space agency ISRO. If Sanskrit had such importance in space research ISRO could have already used it in there research, but no one  talks about it, maybe because they never knew ISRO existed.
Sun produces  sound  "OM"
I found no article in Official NASA website regarding their research on Sanskrit
I don’t have to say anything about this. I had searched in the official site of NASA, and there is no relevant result , which mean NASA never detected such sounds.
I personally respect Sanskrit as a great language but I believe that beyond its philosophical, linguistic and phonetic uses, it is not more important than other language. If you know some other misconception about this language please leave a comment.

How to utilize lockdown time. Few advice for students

Because of  lockdown, we all are stuck at our home. And we have almost started feeling bored, right? Our schools are closed, even in this long holidays, we are not allowed to go out and meet friends. We have started to realize that watching LED screen every time does not feel good. Schools have started online classes but it is  very difficult to grasp everything because of poor internet connection. It  seems that time has just stopped at this moment. But it is not true for everyone. Some of the kids of your age are utilizing this time to hone their skills in which they are passionate.

Today, we are the global citizen. That mean we have to be best in global scale. Pubg  is famous in almost every countries, but you may not know any good game produced by the developer of your country. We use facebook, twitter , instagram, youtube or blogger as Im using to post this blog, but almost no  social media produced by any web designer of your country, you might be using. This means only one thing, in such globalized world, you must be exceptionally good in your field to surpass any limitations. You  are little bit lucky because you got a long break from your school or college to explore your passion and work o it. Which was almost impossible for previous years. So you can something extra to shape your better future.

Books

Almost all good entrepreneurs are passionate reader. You may not believe this because, it is taught that Bill gates was college dropout and Bla Bla Bla. But it is never told that they left college because they did not find their college was useful But surprisingly Bill gates recently uploaded one video recommending five good books. In other words, he is a passionate reader. Similarly great leaders or entrepreneur reads books to broaden their views. So it is wise to read books, if you don’t get sleepy during reading.

Movies

Watching movies can broaden your mind. I’m not talking about some Bollywood movies which do not have any particular views except entertainment. But there are some good movies which can brainstorm the thinking of any person watching those movies. A good site for recommending better movies is Imdb, which have listed best movies of different genres. Among those movies, few could be found in Youtube or Netflix, or can be downloaded from peer sharing network such as torrent.

Music or Arts

As there is plenty of time, it is right time to learn basic skills or learn sophisticated skills in different forms of arts such as music or painting.

Programming?

Everyone knows, information technology is encompassing all the fields and very soon, every field will be within the grasp of such technology. Every field in upcoming generation will demand a good command of data analysis. To be a perfect data analyst, excellency in programming language is required. Few programming languages are taught in school but they are not sufficient or outdated. So this is the optimum time to learn any programming language. Codeacademy might be a good choice to learn programming language. Just you need to sign up and choose any course, it will start to give concept and instructions, and few tasks to be done, which will make programming language really easier.

Online courses

Naaaahhhh……. It might be your reaction, if you are fed up by the online courses provided by your school or college, but there are really  better online courses, which encompasses courses beyond your curriculum, which may match your passion. So why not utilize this time by taking some online courses from coursara or edx.

Content creating

If you are really creative, you can create youtube videos or write blogs. If your content is good enough, sooner or later, you will start making money from it.

If you are doing some other activities, you can post in comment box
